Elisha Keen is a Sydney based singer songwriter. Having completed a double degree of Arts (Philosophy) and Music (Hons), she has begun to tackle a Masters of Speech Pathology at Sydney Uni, to be completed at the end of 2013. She teaches singing privately, and on top of her originals project, she is currently involved in the running of, arranging for and participating in several vocal ensembles (Martini quartet 2006-2009, Soulfood 2009-current, Lilac 2010-current, Ku-Ring-Gai Singers 2011-2012). Her band features the talented line up of John Gnanasekaran (guitar), John Bucknell (bass, sax), and Liam Hayes (drums), as well various guests popping in sporadically. Among her musical influences are Jewel, Lauryn Hill, Sarah Vaughan, Katie Noonan, Ani DiFranco, Elana Stone and Becca Stevens. She has spent the last decade writing lyrics, which she believes are the backbone of any song of sincerity, and strives to always write from her own experiences. She started writing songs in highschool after dusting off her mother's old guitar and learning enough chords to be fiddle her way through Let It Be. It was an epiphany. |
